it’s probably a burrow, a sub-category
I was visiting Black Futures Farm, as part of a field trip. Everyone I met that worked there was really cool and helpful, one of the stewards Bear, taught us about Hügelkultur mounds. I asked if you can just dump your foodscrapes on it as most portlanders contribute food waste to compost. They said yes, though you run the risk of attracting rodents, which will piss off neighbors (and the city)---however, they brought up a good point that the rats burrows create channels that help water flow to places they otherwise wouldn’t, a postive impact on the city ecosystem from these persistant little buggers.
